Chemistry does not get it’s fair share. It is still a marginal pursuit for non-academics. Indeed, outside of academic circles, you would be hard-pressed to find amateur chemists in your neighborhood, much less your town. This is unfortunate as at one point, chemistry was the king of hobbies, especially in the mid-20th century. Boys, and some girls, could not wait to get a chemistry set and turn their childhood worlds into a giant Petri dish.

Cuts and bruises are an inevitable fact of life. From toddlers to thirty-somethings, you can be sure that at some point you will have the misfortune of having to bandage a cut or scrape. The most common cut comes compliments of kitchen-based cutlery. Yes, slicing that apple or piece of bread often includes slicing your thumb. Ah, yes, the poor thumb — always dutiful, always there, always getting cut.
